TOP 10 STYLING TIPS FOR CURVACEOUS WOMEN

image

Curvy is the new black and it’s about time too! Fashion is finally realising that a model-like figure is not a realistic body type. It’s refreshing to see
the rise of plus size models and popularity of celebrities like Beyonce and Kim Kardashian who are famous for their curves and who are not afraid to show off their body even though they might not be super skinny.

These 10 style tips and tricks will help you enhance your figure in the best way.

image

1. Don’t Be Afraid Of Colour
Black is always seen as a slimming colour but adding a pop of colour to your outfit creates interest and can be used to highlight your best areas.

Colour blocking, print blocking and seam details such as darts are great for creating silhouette and giving shape to your body.

image

2. Know Your Fabrics
If you have curves you need to find high quality fabrics that contour creases and hug your figure, as these will make you look more streamlined. Scuba, stretch crepe and double-faced viscose are great choices. Bulky fabrics such as velvet and heavy wool can appear shapeless. For areas of concern avoid high sheen fabrics, which will
attract the light and can sometimes make you appear bigger, not to mention the shine will draw the eye here so instead opt for matte fabrics to play down these areas.

image

3. Find A Great Tailor
Tailoring your clothing can have a huge impact on the way it fits. It can be the difference between an outfit looking frumpy and boxy or totally put together and flattering.

image

4. Accentuate Your Waist
Cinching your clothes in at the waist can make your silhouette more defined. Basically belts are your best friends. Adding a belt is an easy way
to make your outfit more polished and because it enhances the smallest part of your body it can make you look slimmer and your curves more defined, and who doesn’t want that?

image

5. Skirt Length
Hemlines should finish above or below the knee, as it will make your legs look slimmer and longer. The general rule for creating a more flattering
silhouette is to opt for a hemline that hits the spot where your legs start becoming slimmer.

image

6. Balance Your Shapes
Feminine clothes that enhance the hourglass shape are always flattering. Combining the right silhouettes is crucial. If you are going for a sexy
pencil skirt then pair it back with a looser top. Similarly if you are wearing a slim fitting tee or crop style top then add volume to the bottom
half with a fuller skirt. If you have a large bust then scoop, boat and V-neck lines are more flattering then round or high necks.

image

7. Keep It Simple
Don’t overdo things; your clothes should be sleek and simple with no extra frills or ruffles, as this will only add more volume to your figure. When it comes to prints don’t let the print wear you, instead opt for basic prints with vertical lines to elongate the figure.

image

8. Embrace Shapewear
You need a good foundation so always make sure you have the proper undergarments. Seamless lingerie will mean you avoid unsightly lines and will make your body look smoother. Spanx are great for reducing and enhancing all the right parts without leaving any lines and the right bra can make a world of difference to your décolletage.

image

9. Wear Your Size
Hiding your curves under oversized and baggy clothes will only make you look bigger than you really are, whilst clothes that are too small will be
unflattering. By embracing your curves and wearing the perfect size you will find that your clothes are more flattering and will show off your
feminine shape.

image

10. Love Your Curves
Know your body shape and be confident in what you are wearing. If you love your arms then show them off in a sleeveless style or if you hate your
thighs cover them with a midi skirt. Wear clothes that accentuate the areas of your body that you love and hide the areas you don’t and that make you feel good.

HOW TO GET FLAWLESS SKIN IN 60 SECONDS

Mastering foundation is much easier than you think: Choose the appropriate one for your skin type, then follow these quickie steps. You won’t look spackled, just stunning.

image

For oily skin: Powder foundation

Step 1: Use a fluffy brush to apply (the sponge that comes with it is best on spots that need extra). Swirl it on, starting from the middle of your face.

Step 2: Sweep it out to just shy of the edges of
your face. To touch up midday, absorb oil with a
blotting paper, then dust color only where you
need to conceal. We love: Urban Decay Naked Skin Powder Foundation.

image

For dry skin: Cream foundation

Step 1: A wedge sponge, or the one that comes
with the formula, is the perfect tool. (For a light
finish, wet it.) Dot the color down your T-zone and on cheeks.

Step 2: Blend out with a mix of swirls and strokes, unless your cheeks have peach fuzz; in that case, de-emphasize it by stroking downward.
We love: CoverGirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

image

For skin with fine lines: Liquid foundation

Step 1: For medium coverage, apply with your
fingers; to make it sheer, use a damp sponge. Put a drop on your T-zone and cheeks and around your nose.

Step 2: Massage it in, starting at your T-zone and feathering out. If the color settles into creases, buff the area with a clean brush to remove buildup. We love: Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Effect Makeup

image

For sensitive skin: Mineral foundation

Step 1: Use a brush with short, densely packed
hairs to buff this into your skin— otherwise the
powder can go on heavy and make your complexion chalky.

Step 2: Starting at the center of your face, swish
up and out for even coverage. If the end result looks too matte, mist on a light spray of water for a dewier finish. We love: BareMinerals Original Foundation

28 TIPS FOR CLEAR SKIN IN LESS THAN A MONTH

image

How to get clear skin: a question we’ve probably all asked ourselves at some point. After trying our fair share of products that promise to transform our skin overnight, we know the disappointment that inevitably follows when, in 24 hours, we’re still experiencing redness and breakouts. Instead of looking for an overnight cure or magic bullet, try making these small changes each day to get glowing skin in less than a month.

Day 1: Visit a dermatologist. It may seem simple, but many people skip this step and subsequently treat their skin the wrong way. A quick trip to a skin doctor can take out a lot of the guesswork in your beauty routine.

Day 2: Break bad habits by keeping hands off of your face. The bacteria on your fingers is only making your skin problems worse.

Day 3: Wash your pillowcases once a week. Bacteria on your bedding can cause breakouts.

Day 4: Clean off your phone with an alcohol pad. Phones spend too much time near and on our faces to not be clean.

Day 5: Choose a cleanser with salicylic acid, like Kate Somerville Purify Clarifying Cleanser. The salicylic acid will exfoliate dead skin cells and help reduce the appearance of pores.

Day 6: Dry your skin with a soft t-shirt, instead of a towel. Some towels are too abrasive and cause tiny tears in the skin, where bacteria makes its way in.

Day 7: After washing your face, use a toner that will clean pores without stripping skin of your natural oils.

Day 8: Limit your retinol products to nighttime, since they become inactive in sunlight. Instead, switch out your skin care routine in the AM for something without retinol.

Day 9: No one can fault you for wanting to cover up evidence of your breakouts during the day, but try to choose makeup that covers, as well as heals your acne.

Day 10: Clean off makeup brushes once a week to keep bacteria from being spread.

Day 11: Don’t neglect your body! After drying off after a shower, spray acne-prone body parts with Glo Professional Back Acne Treatment.

Day 12: Moisturize with a face oil. While those with blemishes tend to shy away from oil, it can stop your skin from creating excess sebum, which causes breakouts.

Day 13: When slathering on sunscreen this summer, choose a non-comedogenic version for your face, like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30.

Day 14: If you wash your face in the shower, be sure to wash your hair before applying a facial cleanser. This ensures you don’t leave behind any shampoo/conditioner residue on your skin, which can irritate it.

Day 15: If breakouts are located around your hairline, change out shampoos. Your skin might be reacting to the formula.

Day 16: If large cystic pimples show up on the chin area once a month, consider using a treatment targeted toward hormonal acne, like Medik8 BetaGel.

Day 17: Incorporate lots of leafy greens into your diet, as well as these other skin-clearing foods.

Day 18: Eliminate sugar and dairy from your diet to see if that makes a difference in your skin. For many people, their faces start clearing up immediately.

Day 19: Exfoliate your face with a chemical exfoliating product, like Kaplan MD Clinical Skin Therapy a few times a week.

Day 20: Use a skin clearing mask once a week, like Origins Clear Improvement Mask.

Day 21: Never go to bed without taking off your makeup. If it’s a worse case scenario, at least swipe your face with a Simple Cleansing Facial Wipe.

Day 22: For large cystic pimples, use a spot treatment at night with an aspirin mask. Mix 5-8 aspirin tablets with a few drops of water until it’s dissolved into a paste. Dab the paste onto pimples for an overnight reduction in size.

Day 23: Deep clean your pores with a DIY facial every couple of weeks.

Day 24: Be sure to get enough sleep each night and limit stress, which can cause skin eruptions.

Day 25: Dab a tiny bit of Visine on bright red pimples to take away the redness.

Day 26: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. It’s amazing how big a difference this step can make in your appearance.

Day 27: Exercise at least three times a week. By maintaining inner health, you’ll help balance your skin.

Day 28: Stay consistent with your skin routine to see the results you want.

HOW TO EAT HEALTHY THIS CHRISTMAS

image

Christmas is a time of celebration, but it also tends to be a time of high-fat, high-calorie food. Being part of the Christmas celebration without sabotaging your health goals may be difficult, but it is definitely doable. The key to eating healthy at Christmas is to plan ahead, bringing your own
snacks and dishes if necessary, so that you don’t get caught unaware and end up filling up on unhealthy options.

Step 1
Eat a healthy breakfast on Christmas morning. Include at least one fruit or vegetable and some protein such as eggs or nuts. This will help stave off hunger and prevent overeating high-calorie snacks while waiting for the big lunch or dinner to be served.

Step 2
Bring a nutritious dish to the festivities. Offer beforehand to provide a salad or vegetable side dish so you can be assured that there will be at least one healthy item at the meal.

Step 3
Pack a snack to bring with you in case you can’t find anything healthy to nibble on between meals. An apple or orange and a small bag of nuts makes a good portable snack.

Step 4
Consume a healthy snack or small meal every three to four hours throughout the day. This helps keep blood sugar levels stable and is much healthier than consuming a single large meal.

Step 5
Load your plate with healthy options first. Instead of heading straight for the calorie and fat-laden side dishes, choose some lean turkey or ham and vegetables for your first plateful. You can have some higher-calorie options when you’re ready for seconds and already somewhat full.

Step 6
Drink a glass of red wine with your Christmas dinner. Red wine is high in resveratrol, a phytochemical that helps fight heart disease and cancer. If you don’t drink alcohol, try a glass of grape juice or just have plain water instead.

Step 7
Practice portion control. Instead of completely depriving yourself of the high-calorie options, try a single piece or just one bite, enough to get a taste, but not enough to leave you feeling stuffed.

Step 8
Have a cup of tea before, or even in place of, dessert. Tea has loads of antioxidants, and the liquid will fill you up, making it less likely you will gorge on cake, pie and candy.

Warnings
Don’t eat food that has been sitting out for more than an hour or two. Bacteria and other organisms can grow rapidly at room temperature and lead to food poisoning.
